چکیده
Pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum L.) is one of the major crops in dry and saline areas across globe. During salinity stress, plants encounter significant changes their physio biochemical activities, leading to decreased growth yield. Bacillus species are used as biofertilizers biopesticides for pearl other promote The use soils has been beneficial combat negative effect on plant In this context, present study emphasizes two species, i.e. megaterium JR-12 B. pumilus GN-5, which helped alleviating impact stress activities salt-stressed millet. seeds were treated with strains, B.pumilus individually combination under 50, 100 150 mM sodium chloride stress. showed higher height, biomass accumulation, photosynthetic apparatus than non-treated plants. Additionally, increased osmoprotectant levels compared control antioxidant enzyme content was improved post-inoculation, indicating efficient stress-alleviating potential both strains species. Moreover, inoculation these microbes significantly attributes a Bp-GN-5 + Bm-JR-12 reduction rates found be alleviated 9.12%, 20.30% 33%, respectively. Overall, results suggested that could have improve productivity

Efficient regeneration of pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R. Br.) from shoot tip cultures.
A simple, genotype-independent and efficient method for plant regeneration using shoot tip explants of pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum) was established. Linsmaier and Skoog (LS) medium supplemented with 2,4-dichloro-phenoxyacetic acid (2.5 mg l(-1)) and kinetin (0. 2 mg l(-1)) was used for induction of embryogenic calli. Development of numerous somatic embryos was observed within 10 days after...

The objective of this study was to identify morphological and physiological traits for salinity tolerance in Tunisian autochthonous ZZ pearl millet ecotype (Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R. Br) under local conditions. ZZ ecotype was cultivated under different levels of salinity and growth parameters, water relations and mineral content were measured. Results showed that ZZ pearl millet ecotype was un...

متن کاملTowards Defining Heterotic Gene Pools in Pearl Millet [Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R. Br.]
Pearl millet is a climate resilient crop and one of the most widely grown millets worldwide. Heterotic hybrid development is one of the principal breeding objectives in pearl millet. In a maiden attempt to identify heterotic groups for grain yield, a total of 343 hybrid parental [maintainer (B-) and restorer (R-)] lines were genotyped with 88 polymorphic SSR markers. The SSRs generated a total ...
متن کاملDevelopment and characterization of a high temperature stress responsive subtractive cDNA library in Pearl Millet Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R.Br.
Pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum L. R. Br.) is an important cereal crop grown mainly in the arid and semi-arid regions of India known to possess the natural ability to withstand thermal stress. To elucidate the molecular basis of high temperature response in pearl millet, 12 days old seedlings of P. glaucum cv. 841A were subjected to heat stress at 46 degrees C for different time durations ( 30...
